The Ultimate Resource for NYT Spelling Bee Fans

Inspired by the popular weekly print puzzle in The New York Times Magazine, the Spelling Bee made its digital debut on May 9, 2018. Since then, editor Sam Ezersky has challenged word lovers daily to craft as many words as possible using just seven changing letters. Enthusiasts type furiously in pursuit of the elusive Queen Bee title, hunting for every last word.

Author William Shunn discovered Spelling Bee in late summer 2018—and quickly became a dedicated fan. Initially, he built a simple online tool to help himself spot missed words. But by September, he began tracking and archiving the official answers to each puzzle. Over time, William expanded and refined the website, adding helpful features and improvements based on feedback from fellow players.

In August 2020, the site started sharing daily hints via its now-retired Twitter account, @beesolved, sparking a vibrant online community of players. Known affectionately as the #hivemind, these dedicated puzzlers swapped tips, cheered each other on, and unearthed elusive solutions like “Alee.” With their help, William was able to reconstruct solution lists dating all the way back to the game’s online inception.

Today, the site proudly hosts the most comprehensive public archive of NYT Spelling Bee answers and statistics available. It continues to offer daily hints through platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon, serving a global audience of players striving for word game glory.

This valuable resource runs on support from ads and generous donations. If you enjoy the site and find it helpful, consider contributing a few dollars to keep it buzzing!

Thanks for stopping by—and good luck reaching Queen Bee status. Bee well!
